Another thing I dislike about the body positivity movement is when people say stuff like ‘I miss the olden days when being chubby or [trait that is considered unattractive in modern times] was the beauty standard, we need to bring that back’! It’s so dumb because the whole concept of beauty standards is toxic. Changing them to be a different thing still upholds a structure where women’s worth and value is defined by their appearance. Throughout history different things have been considered beautiful but the ultimate result is always the same, some women meet the standards and the others are shamed for not looking a certain way. This is why body neutrality is superior. Body positivity is just the same shit in different packaging.
